Precious steel

A LANGE 1 in stainless steel changed owners on 13 May 2013 at Christie’s “Important Watches” auction in Geneva for 119,489 euros (148,500 Swiss francs). A. Lange & Söhne built a few of these pieces in the mid-1990s. Case and buckle of this extremely rare timepiece are made of stainless steel, complemented by blued-steel hands. The movement and its functions are the same as in the regular LANGE 1 with the manufacture calibre L901.0.

The day before, on 12 May 2013, watch collectors purchased two models of the 1815 MOON PHASE in rose gold, reference 231.031, in an auction at Antiquorum, which also took place in Geneva. The moon phase of this watch has been calculated so accurately that it will deviate from the moon’s actual orbit by only one day after 1058 years of uninterrupted operation.
